Winter lasts a long time in Switzerland. So, to move Old Man Winter out of town, some Swiss folks celebrate Chalandamarz on March 1. This festival means children dress in traditional costumes and march through towns ringing bells (large and small) driving out the winter spirits. A popular Swiss tale, Schellen-Ursli (A Bell for Ursli) tells of a young shepherd boy who overcomes obstacles and leads his town’s parade and rings the largest bell. Our Ursli is handcarved from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood, decorated with non-toxic paint, and carries a metal bell. Each is unique. Limited quantities.
Made in Switzerland.
